The days may be becoming increasingly shorter, but being stuck in the house all day with three young kids can sometimes make each day seem incredibly long. Am I right? Making Christmas ornaments has quickly become our favorite go-to activity on these cold and dreary December afternoons. Not only does painting popsicle sticks and gluing pom-poms keep their little hands busy long enough for mommy to sit down and enjoy a much needed afternoon cup of coffee, but our tree is now covered in mostly handmade ornaments. Handmade Christmas ornaments (especially those made with the kids) are my favorite! I just adore them. And I’m sure as the kids grow up, these simple ornaments will become beautiful reminders of times and places past.
My oldest are two and four, so everything needs to be simple. All of our handmade ornaments are made with just pom-poms, popsicle sticks, beads, pipe cleaners, paint, stickable foam and glue. These really are so simple to make! My four year old is a bit of a reluctant crafter, but if he’s making something he’s actually interested in, well, it’s a different story. He loves making Christmas ornaments, mostly because he loves decorating, un-decorating and re-decorating our tree.
These are some of my favorites!
Do you enjoy making Christmas ornaments with your kids? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
